The concept came from my business mentor—Jerry Perenchio. Mr. Perenchio was former Chairman and CEO of Univision. Prior to that he was talent agent for MCA representing the likes of Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor. Jerry was a sports promoter—having created the “Fight of the Century” in 1971 between Mohammed Ali and Joe Frazier. He also presided over the production company—Tandem Productions/Embassy Television which produced hits such as “All in the Family”, “Maude” and “Diff’rent Strokes”. A remarkable man with a remarkable career. When it came to hiring people, Jerry would say, “We’re not looking to hit the bullseye, we are looking to hit the CENTER of the bullseye”. Meaning only hire the best of the best. I have carried that mindset with me since my days at Univision, and it is a constant reminder of where to set “my sights” in both my personal life and my business life. When it came time to name my consulting business, it was a simple choice. Thank you, Jerry. This one’s for you.
